Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adult surgical-trauma patients on a high-acuity Med/Surg unit, including assessments, monitoring, wound care, and postoperative care.
- Administer medications, manage IV therapy, and support pain control and comfort measures per physician orders.
- Monitor patient conditions, interpret changes, and escalate promptly according to unit protocol.
- Document care accurately in EPIC and participate in nurse handoffs between ED and admitting units.
- Collaborate with Nursing Support Techs, phlebotomists, unit secretary, and other care partners to maintain patient flow and safety; adhere to a patient-to-nurse ratio of approximately 5:1.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in Med/Surg or surgical-trauma specialty.
- BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
- EPIC electronic health record experience required.
- Must be willing to work the assigned night shifts; no block scheduling and no time-off requests (RTO) during the assignment.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced surgical-trauma environment.
