Responsibilities
- Float within the central ICU pool to units of like skill and ability, including SICU and Miller 3/4, based on patient needs.
- Begin IV access and manage multiple titrating drips; provide detailed ventilator care for critically ill patients.
- Care for adults across post-cardiac surgery, vascular, trauma, neurosurgery, and overflow MICU populations; respond to hemodynamic changes.
- Monitor critical devices (CRRT, IABP, ECMO where applicable) and adjust therapy under physician and multidisciplinary team guidance.
- Document patient care accurately in the EMR and adhere to unit protocols; participate in scheduled orientations and adapt scheduling to unit needs.
- Maintain flexibility with scheduling and weekend requirements; two out of four holidays may be scheduled per assignment.
Requirements
- Active RN license in the applicable state (or eligible for licensure as required)
- Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS required; CCRN preferred (NIHSS required prior to start)
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of ICU/CCU nursing; prior travel experience preferred; experience in a large teaching facility (500+ beds) required
- EMR: EPIC experience within the past 2 years is required
- Additional: Ability to float to SICU and Miller 3/4; IV starts; ventilator management; ability to manage multiple drips and complex cardiopulmonary cases
- Travel and schedule: Prior travel experience required; reliable transportation; valid driver’s license; willing to work a rotating schedule and holidays as needed; local travel radius may be considered
