Responsibilities
- Assist during surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile field and providing instrumentation as needed to the surgical team.
- Prepare and inspect instruments, ensure proper packaging, verify moisture and seal integrity, check expiration dates, and verify sterile indicators when present.
- Monitor the sterile field for potential contamination or disruption and initiate corrective action under supervision to protect patient safety.
- Develop competency in Tier 1 surgical cases and participate in Time Out processes, including briefings and debriefings with the perioperative team.
- Help with patient transports, room turnovers, and room preparation to support efficient turnover and patient flow.
- Demonstrate professional behavior, stay current with new technologies and procedures, and model Just Culture principles within the team.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and contribute to a safe, high-quality patient care environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.

Requirements
- Licensure: Licensed Surgical Technologist in Colorado (active required).
- Education: Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or licensure as a Surgical Technologist.
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Experience/Skills: Working knowledge of sterile and aseptic technique; familiarity with AORN standards; good communication with the perioperative team.
- Language: Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Onboarding: Ability to obtain required computer skills within 90 days to complete online learning, access policies, and participate in benefits enrollment.
- Physical/Environment: Ability to perform required duties in a surgical setting, with the ability to stand for extended periods and assist with instrument handling and positioning as needed.
- Compliance: HIPAA compliance required.
