Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures across OB/GYN, abdomen, breast, vascular, and small parts to support diagnosis and treatment.
- Corroborate patient clinical history with the procedure and document findings for licensed practitioners.
- Prepare patients, provide pre-procedure instructions, obtain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
- Operate ultrasound equipment and transducers, position patients, and adjust settings to optimize image quality.
- Evaluate images for technical quality, ensure proper identification, and assist with interventional procedures when needed.
- Maintain aseptic technique, administer contrast media or medications as prescribed when permitted by policy, initiate basic life support if required.
- Maintain patient records, protect confidentiality, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Serve as an in-house resource for peers and vendors when acting as an Advanced User; participate in training as needed.
- Participate in continuing education to maintain licensure/certification and support department goals.

Requirements
- Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree from a CAHEA-accredited sonography program or equivalent.
- Licenses/ certifications: OBMI and ARDMS registered US Sonographer; current BLS certification. CRASE training may be required if the assignment extends beyond 6 months.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of ultrasound experience.
- Physical and functional requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; ability to stand, walk, and assist patients for extended periods; good visual and auditory acuity; ability to wear PPE and work in a fast-paced clinical setting; able to work indoors in a healthcare environment with potential exposure to infectious materials.
- Working environment: Travel assignment in a hospital/clinic setting; able to adapt to a busy, multidisciplinary team and varying patient needs.
