Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect patient care for a group of Med Surg patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation) within an assigned time frame.
- Assess biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning factors; plan and implement nursing interventions; evaluate care outcomes.
- Administer medications and therapies per policy, monitor patient status, interpret clinical data, and communicate changes to the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and ancillary staff; coordinate care plans and discharge planning; provide education to patients and families.
- Ensure patient safety, infection control, and accurate documentation; support age-appropriate care across the life span in alignment with unit and hospital policies.
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license; license verification through LARA and Nursys; be prepared to provide license documentation and a brief explanation if there is a license issue.
- BLS (AHA) certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg experience; ICU experience preferred.
- Ability to work a 3x12 Night shift (7:00 PM–7:30 AM per notes) in a hospital setting; must pass health and background screenings as required.
- Skills checklist completed within one year of application for RN specialties.
