- Requires independent RN circulator skills and OR scrubbing abilities
Responsibilities
- Function as an RN circulator for complex adult cardiac procedures, including CABGs, TAVIs, and other advanced cardiac surgeries
- Scrub and/or circulate as needed, supporting procedures such as Bentall, minimally invasive valve cases, and heart failure device cases (e.g., Impella)
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and the multidisciplinary team to maintain sterile technique, correct instrument counts, and patient safety
- Monitor intraoperative patient status, manage equipment and devices, document events, and respond to intraoperative changes
- Provide perioperative care coordination from patient preparation through postoperative handoff and recovery planning
- Support heart transplant and other advanced cardiac programs when required; heart transplant experience is preferred
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in New York (NY RN)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- Minimum two years of operating room experience
- OR experience in a level 1 trauma setting is highly desired
- Ability to independently function as RN circulator; scrub experience is required
- Comfort with a cardiac OR environment and high-acuity cases; strong teamwork and communication skills
