Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and dysphagia assessments for residents.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to improve communication, swallowing function, and overall quality of life.
- Perform bedside swallow evaluations, establish safe diet recommendations, and coordinate with dietitians and nurses on feeding plans.
- Provide direct therapy and supervise care activities as clinically appropriate; document progress and adjust plans as needed.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team rounds and discharge planning; communicate findings and recommendations to families and care partners.
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record and ensure compliance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Active Speech-Language Pathologist license to practice in Rhode Island or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Experience in acute care and/or long-term care settings preferred; strong collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work in a nursing home setting, manage a caseload, and adapt therapy to residents with diverse needs.
- Effective communication skills, professional clinical judgment, and ability to document clearly and concisely.
- Eligibility for travel assignments and ability to meet assignment start date and duration.
