Responsibilities
- Perform sterilization processes, including steam sterilization, and monitor biological/chemical indicators
- Operate washers and sterilizers, perform high-level disinfection, and manage immediate-use sterilization (IUSS) when applicable
- Set up and wrap instruments, assemble trays, and prepare case carts for surgical procedures
- Maintain instrument documentation and traceability; record processing steps in the appropriate system
- Keep the sterile processing area clean and organized; ensure equipment is maintained and meet safety and infection control standards
- Collaborate with OR staff and other units to ensure timely availability of sterile supplies
Requirements
- Certification: CBSPD or CRCST (through HSPA/IAHCSMM acceptable)
- Experience: Minimum 1 year sterile processing; preferred 2 years; first-timers accepted
- References: 2 references covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years (required during compliance)
- Charting: EPIC experience required
- Scheduling: Ability to work Nights, Monday–Friday (5x8); on-call not required
- Compliance: Pre-start modules required (average ~16 hours; completion recorded in Workramp); RTO restrictions apply; standard tier-3 travel compliance process
- Unit/Environment: Sterile Processing Main in a hospital setting
