Responsibilities
- Provide adult critical care and ED respiratory therapy, including invasive and noninvasive ventilator management, weaning, and troubleshooting high-pressure alarms
- Manage HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, and tracheostomy/airway suctioning as required; CPAP weaning and airway management
- Perform pulmonary hygiene, sputum collection, and delivery of aerosolized medications
- Interpret ABGs and support related EKG tasks as needed; provide newborn stabilization when assigned
- Staff coverage across a 24/7 RT department with involvement in ICU, ED, Med/Surg, Pediatrics, and low-volume newborn stabilization
- Chart patient data using Epic; participate in interdisciplinary rounding and care planning
Requirements
- Active New York State license in hand prior to submission
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CRT, NRP
- Minimum 1 year RT experience; community hospital experience required; Level I trauma experience preferred
- Ability to work independently in a 24/7 in-house RT department across ICU, ED, Med/Surg, Pediatrics; comfortable with newborn stabilization when assigned
- Core clinical skills: invasive/noninvasive ventilation, weaning, high-pressure alarm troubleshooting; HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP; tracheostomy care and suctioning; oral/nasal airway management
- Epic charting experience required
- Float rotation may be required; must be able to adapt to changing care environments
- Locals not accepted; distance compliance requires candidates reside more than 75 miles from assignment location
