Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adults on a medical-surgical telemetry unit with neurosurgical/surgical needs.
- Monitor telemetry, assess patient status, implement care plans, administer medications, and document in the electronic medical record (Epic) in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, participate in rounds, and communicate changes in patient condition to physicians and family members.
- Perform and document NIH Stroke Scale assessments, monitor for stroke symptoms, and respond to neurovascular changes as part of patient safety.
- Support discharge planning and patient/family education, including post-acute care instructions and follow-up planning.
- Ensure adherence to unit policies, infection control practices, and safety standards; maintain appropriate staffing presence including every other weekend schedule.

Requirements
- Active registered nurse license in the state of Vermont (or eligibility per scope of practice)
- Minimum of 2 years of medical-surgical unit experience
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), ACLS, and BLS certifications; NIHSS must be completed prior to start
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years
- Prior travel nursing experience required; large teaching facility experience preferred
- Ability to work 3x12-hour day shifts on a neurosurgical/surgical telemetry unit and meet the unit’s scheduling needs (including every other weekend); no block scheduling
- Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and reliable transportation for local/mileage-based assignments
