Responsibilities
- Provide physical therapy treatments under the supervision of licensed physical therapists, including modalities, manual techniques, and common exercise programs.
- Instruct and guide patients through functional activities such as bed mobility, transfers, gait training, and balance activities.
- Monitor patient responses, observe treatment precautions, and report changes to nurses and the supervising physical therapists.
- Maintain timely patient chart documentation of interventions and services provided in the acute care setting.
- Educate patients and caregivers, adapting instruction to learning style and assessing education outcomes.
- May mentor and train staff on technical skills as needed and perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- California licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant is required.
- CPR or BLS certification from an approved vendor is required.
- Education: High School diploma or GED required; Associate’s/Technical degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience required.
- Experience: Two years’ physical therapy or technical experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a hospital LTAC setting and participate in a travel assignment.
