Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care on the Geropsychiatric Unit, including assessments, monitoring, and documentation of patient conditions
- Maintain accurate patient reports and medical histories; perform mental and physical assessments
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders; monitor effects and report changes
- Assist patients with daily activities; observe and document reactions to interventions
- Manage activities within the therapeutic milieu, including daily groups, education, and 1:1 interactions
- Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary treatment team to complete individualized treatment plans and coordinate nursing care
- Plan, implement, and coordinate nursing care activities for patients; support discharge planning and accurate admission histories
- Complete required documentation (admission paperwork, assessments, progress notes, discharge paperwork) in a timely, accurate manner
Requirements
- Licenses and certifications: Valid State of New Hampshire RN license; BLS certification required
- Education: 2-year Associate degree or diploma from a nursing program required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience: 1 year of nursing experience preferred
- Skills: Medical terminology proficiency; strong mathematical, analytical, written and verbal communication abilities
- Practice setting: Ability to work night shifts in an inpatient geropsychiatric unit
