Responsibilities
- Provide triage, initial assessment, and ongoing nursing care for adult and geriatric patients presenting to the emergency department.
- Monitor patient status with telemetry and monitors; interpret vital signs and respond to changes in condition following clinical protocols.
- Administer medications, IV lines, fluids, and blood products as ordered; manage pain control and procedural medications per policy.
- Prepare for and assist with ER procedures (e.g., wound care, basic resuscitation, EKGs) and coordinate with the broader care team.
- Ensure accurate documentation in the electronic health record; communicate clearly with patients, families, EMS, and ED colleagues; uphold infection prevention, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient flow, disposition decisions, and post-ER care planning.

Requirements
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred
- Licenses: Active, unencumbered Hawaii RN license required; all licenses must be valid through the contract duration
- Certifications: Current BLS/HCP, ACLS, PALS, NRP (Advanced), TNCC, NIHSS, and CPI required
- Experience: Two (2) or more years of full-time staff Emergency nursing experience prior to travel assignments
- Testing/compliance: Must pass an EKG test with 80% or higher during orientation; all compliance items must be completed no later than 10 days prior to the start date
- Additional: Ability to work in a rural hospital ER setting; willingness to perform roles as assigned to meet unit needs
