Responsibilities
- Provide direct critical care nursing to adult ICU patients, including post-cardiac surgery, vascular, trauma and overflow neuro, and manage multiple titrating drips, ventilator care, and hemodynamic monitoring.
- Initiate IV access, administer medications, and perform invasive procedures as needed; document patient data and care plans in the EMR (EPIC) within past 2 years.
- Float across central ICU pool units and to units such as SICU, Miller 3, and Miller 4 as required, maintaining patient safety and clinical handoffs.
- Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition; adjust therapies per physician orders; collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care and discharge planning.
- Adhere to infection control and safety policies; manage multiple patients and prioritize care during high-demand periods; comply with scheduling requirements including availability to work holidays.
- Maintain competency with equipment and drips, including CRRT, ventilators, and NIV/advanced respiratory support as needed.
Requirements
- Active RN license; eligible for travel assignment
- Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS required; CCRN preferred; NIHSS required prior to start
- Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU/CCU experience; prior travel experience; EPIC EMR experience within the past 2 years; large teaching facility experience preferred
- Education: Nursing degree from an accredited program
- Additional: Ability to float to units outside own POD; reliable transportation required (public transport not available in the area) with winter tires recommended November–April
