Registered Nurse – Step-Down (high-acuity PCU/IMC) in Saint Louis, Missouri. Start date 06/01/2026 for a travel, Weeks-long temporary assignment in an acute care hospital setting. Weekly pay range: $2,092 - $2,161 per week. Guaranteed hours: 36 per week. Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts. Responsibilities
- Deliver direct bedside care for adult patients in a high-acuity step-down unit (PCU/IMC) during night shifts
- Manage ventilated patients, titrate vasopressors, and adjust insulin drips per protocol
- Monitor and troubleshoot arterial lines, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and ventilator equipment; respond to dysrhythmias and hemodynamic changes
- Collaborate with respiratory therapy and multidisciplinary teams; interpret ABG results and telemetry data; ensure patient safety and comfort
- Maintain accurate EPIC documentation; adhere to unit protocols and medication administration standards
Requirements
- Active RN license and eligibility for licensure in Missouri; pending licensure accepted per facility rules
- Certifications: ACLS, BCLS (BLS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Experience: Minimum 2 years RN bedside experience; must have been at the bedside within the last 6 months; trauma Level II experience required
- Clinical must-haves: Ventilator care, vasopressor titration, insulin drip management, chest tube care, arterial line management; dysrhythmia recognition and hemodynamic monitoring
- First-timers accepted: No
- Unit specifics: Adults; High-acuity step-down care; EPIC charting; may float to lower-acuity floors within the hospital/service line
- Scheduling: Weekend requirement every other weekend for nights; on-call not required; block scheduling not accommodated
- Local candidates: Not accepted within a 75-mile radius

- Support for ventilator and sedation management; adherence to hospital protocols
- Care of patients with tracheostomies and external devices; collaboration with RTs for vent management
- Ability to interpret arterial blood gases and respond to rapid physiologic changes
