- ED in a hospital setting with telemedicine and telestroke support; EPIC experience required
Responsibilities
- Provide direct, triaged care to an adult to geriatric ED population, with ability to respond to rapid changes in patient condition; perform initial assessments and ongoing monitoring.
- Administer medications and IV therapy, initiate IV access, manage drips/infusions, and utilize Pyxis and medical administration processes; document all care in Epic.
- Interpret telemetry and monitors, perform EKGs, administer analgesia and resuscitation measures, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during emergent situations; participate in procedural sedation and transports as needed.
- Apply ED protocols for STEMI, stroke, and trauma, coordinating with Telestroke services and Telemedicine for consults; ensure safe transfers to higher levels of care when required.
- Maintain patient safety and quality measures, assist with restraints as indicated, and support precepting of new staff when assigned; no routine floating required.
- Use unit equipment: Alaris IV pumps, Philips monitors, Ranger blood warmer; Respiratory support available 24/7; ED operates with a charge nurse on-call and one MD plus mid-level coverage per schedule.
Requirements
- Current RN license to practice in the assignment jurisdiction (Vermont) or eligible.
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS; PALS or ENPC; NRP; NIHSS; TNCC (TNCC or proof of class with date applied; NIHSS required prior to start).
- Minimum 2 years of clinical ED experience; in-unit experience in specialty required; at least 1 prior travel assignment completed.
- EPIC experience within the past 2 years.
- Charge experience highly preferred; comfortable with ED fast-paced, rural/facility-specific workflows; ability to work 7a-7p, 11a-11p, 3p-3a, 7p-7a rotations; holiday coverage required and scheduling may require limited block time.
- Ability to participate in transports and, if needed, ambulance transfers; CPR/airway competencies as applicable.
- Educational background: Nursing degree (associates or baccalaureate).
