Responsibilities
- Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs; triage and monitor changes in condition.
- Establish a compassionate environment and provide education and counseling to patients and families.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individual care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Document accurately and timely in the patient’s medical record; communicate changes to the team.
- Provide input to policies and procedures to support patient safety and quality of care.
- May supervise licensed practical nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel as appropriate.
- Advocate for patients and coordinate with other health professionals; participate in continuous quality improvement.
- Float to other units within your competency when required, with appropriate orientation and support.
Requirements
- License: Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Certifications: CPR/BLS; ACLS (within 6 months of hire); ACLS and PALS (within 6 months of hire); TNCC (within 1 year of hire or residency graduation); ECRN (within 24 months of hire); NRP (within 6 months of hire)
- Education: Nursing degree at least an Associate, Diploma, Bachelor’s, or Master’s in Nursing
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of ED (Emergency Department) experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced ED environment and adapt to unit-specific patient care needs
