Responsibilities
- Assess patients, interpret evaluations and test results, and develop occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
- Implement programs addressing activities of daily living, sensorimotor skills, prevocational and vocational tasks, homemaking, and social/educational/recreational activities; direct rehab aides and technicians.
- Promote maximum independence by tailoring therapies to each patient’s physical capacity, cognitive level, and interests.
- Prepare patients for return to employment by consulting with employers, identifying potential difficulties, retraining, and helping implement reasonable accommodations.
- Complete discharge planning by coordinating with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care team members; educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and necessary equipment; participate in follow-up planning as appropriate.
- Maintain documentation of patient care, uphold patient confidentiality, follow infection-control protocols, ensure equipment maintenance, and pursue ongoing professional development.
Requirements
- Active Occupational Therapy License issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA)
- Valid NBCOT certification/registration
- BLS required
- Previous OT experience preferred
- Ability to work in an inpatient/acute care clinical setting
