Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity MICU, including hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, line management, and vasoactive/sedation infusions.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, interpret critical data, and adjust care plans under physician orders; document in the electronic medical record (Cerner experience preferred).
- Administer medications safely, titrate therapies, and follow high-alert medication protocols and infection-control standards.
- Respond to emergencies, initiate rapid response or codes as needed, and ensure timely escalation to the multidisciplinary team.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, case management, and ancillary staff to coordinate care and plan for discharge.
- Adhere to unit policies and regulatory guidelines (AHA BLS/ACLS; NIHSS) and participate in holiday coverage per unit policy (must work two major holidays and one minor holiday).
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent MICU experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA)
- NIHSS certification or credentialing
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts (0645–1915) and adapt to schedule variations
- No local candidates within 50 miles of the assignment location
- Preferred: CCRN certification
- Preferred: Cerner EMR experience; Medical ICU/COVID ICU exposure
