Responsibilities
- Provide direct bedside nursing care for adults on the MS stroke stepdown unit
- Perform frequent neurological assessments and neuro checks; monitor vitals and respond to changes promptly
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders; manage IVs, tubing, and pumps
- Document care in the EPIC EMR; update care plans and communicate with the interdisciplinary team
- Assist with activities of daily living, early mobility, and discharge planning; adhere to isolation precautions as required
- Maintain patient safety, infection control standards, and participate in unit handoffs
Requirements
- Active New York RN license; Nursys license verification required
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications; NIHSS is required for this unit and can be obtained prior to start
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience with stroke stepdown experience; travel experience required
- EPIC EMR experience
- Valid driver’s license with address matching demographics
- Ability to float to related units as needed
