Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive respiratory care for patients across ICU, NICU, ER, and floor units; collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Manage mechanical ventilation and critical care therapies; monitor patient response and adjust settings as needed
- Administer inhaled medications (LABA, LAMA, SABA, ICS) and surfactant for eligible NICU patients; use noninvasive ventilation when indicated
- Perform arterial punctures and manage advanced airway support; utilize inhaled nitric oxide and heliox when ordered
- Monitor telemetry and ventilator alarms, interpret arterial blood gases, and document care accurately
- Operate and troubleshoot equipment such as Drager V500, Evita XL, Carina, Philips V60/V30; ensure device safety and infection control compliance
Requirements
- Active Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri (RRT or CRT) or eligible to practice
- Mechanical ventilation/critical care experience required
- NICU experience preferred but not required; NRP certification required if NICU experience is present
- Ability to work in ICU, NICU, ER, and floor therapy settings; strong patient assessment and documentation skills
