Travel Registered Nurse IR Job

- Setting: Interventional radiology/cath lab within a critical access hospital
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for patients undergoing interventional radiology and cardiology procedures; administer medications (anticoagulants, vasoactive agents, contrast, emergency meds) and maintain sterile technique; assist with procedures as needed.
- Act as patient advocate and anticipate needs of the interventionalist; monitor for and respond to complications such as arrhythmias, bleeding, contrast reactions, stroke alerts, and cardiac arrest.
- Collaborate with radiologic technologists and physicians on contrast allergy management; participate in pre-procedure discussions regarding contrast agents; communicate allergy considerations during the timeout.
- When assigned, perform moderate sedation per protocol; verify ASA classification and coordinate with anesthesia for higher scores; monitor vital signs, hemodynamics, oxygenation, and level of consciousness; intervene for complications.
- Function in scrub and monitor roles as assigned; organize sterile instruments and equipment, anticipate physician needs, document procedural details, and assist with device deployment and recording events.
- Provide peri-procedure and department support including patient preparation and positioning, equipment setup, allergy/NPO/renal function verification, and ensuring room turnover and inventory management.
Requirements
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing; ongoing education appropriate for practice; BSN preferred.
- Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations: Current RN license in Oregon; current BLS and ACLS certification; IV certification; RCIS or related credential preferred.
- Experience: Required: at least one year in critical care, emergency, cath lab, or interventional radiology; Desired: three or more years in IR or cath lab with conscious sedation or monitor role experience.
- Special qualifications: Ability to work in an interventional radiology/cath lab environment; on-call may be required; bilingual (English-Spanish) preferred.
- Equipment and skills: Proficiency with infusion pumps and monitoring equipment; strong patient advocacy and teamwork skills.
