Responsibilities
- Assist the surgical team in preparation of procedures in the operating room
- Prepare cases by creating and maintaining a sterile field, retracting and passing instruments, supplies, and medications to surgeons during cases
- Set up operative instrumentation and maintain an orderly sterile field with careful aseptic technique
- Manage equipment and supplies, including inventory checks and readiness for assigned cases
- Perform counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and blades with the Registered Nurse according to standards
- Assist with cleaning and preparing equipment and facilities; perform related clerical duties as assigned
- Transport patients and support unit operations to support case flow as needed
- Label solutions and maintain documentation according to established standards
Requirements
- Education: High School diploma or GED required; Associate’s/Technical degree preferred
- Licenses/Certifications: CST (Certified Surgical Technician) or TS-C (Tech in Surgery – NCCT) certification required; CPR/BLS certification required by AH policy; CNA certification preferred
- Experience: At least two years of recent experience in the field
- Licenses: Current nursing license per state of assignment (as applicable)
- Ability to work in the operating room environment and satisfy the shift schedule
