Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to neuro-focused progressive care patients, including monitoring neurologic status and performing NIHSS assessments as part of the care plan.
- Administer medications and therapies as ordered, manage IVs, and monitor vital signs with attention to neuro status and evolving clinical changes.
- Collaborate with physicians, case managers, therapists, and the broader care team to develop and adjust individualized plans of care.
- Document accurately in the EPIC electronic medical record; ensure charting reflects current status, interventions, and outcomes.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort, educate patients and families, and participate in shift handoffs and care rounds.
- Respond to clinical changes promptly, escalate concerns per protocol, and facilitate appropriate transfers or escalation when needed.

Requirements
- Active RN license to practice (as required by assignment) and eligibility to work in the United States.
- NIHSS documented in the CV packet; NIHSS in packet is required to be considered.
- Neuro step-down experience required; strong medical-surgical experience with NIHSS, ACLS, and some step-down experience may be considered.
- ACLS certification (American Heart Association or equivalent).
- EPIC electronic medical record experience.
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in the specialty (neuro/PCU/step-down) with no block scheduling; weekends not required.
- Education: RN degree and licensure appropriate for practice.
