Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care for a defined group of patients during a shift using the nursing process, aligned with the medical plan of care and input from the patient and family.
- Collaborate with physicians and other members of the health care team to coordinate ED care for patients of all ages.
- Include teaching and discharge planning needs in the overall plan of care.
- Delegate certain aspects of patient care delivery to other nursing staff based on current clinical competence and legal scope of practice.
- Triage, treat and support trauma and emergency patients of all ages in an acute care setting. If the department is designated as a trauma site, related triage and treatment activities are included in the scope.
Requirements
- Active RN license in California (or eligible for a California/compact license) and ability to practice as a registered nurse in an ED setting.
- Ability to work 3x12-hour day shifts in an Emergency Department environment.
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Comfort delivering care to patients across the age spectrum (neonatal to geriatric) in an ED/trauma-capable unit.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team in an acute care setting.
