Responsibilities
- Provide basic and critical respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients per physician orders and department policies.
- Administer aerosol and oxygen therapy; monitor patient response and maintain accurate documentation.
- Manage ventilator support and perform arterial blood gas draws per policy and physician orders.
- Document care in the electronic medical record; complete necessary paperwork and charges for each patient.
- Assist in training and supervising new employees as delegated; participate in department training activities.
- Collaborate with the care team to assess therapy effectiveness and adjust treatment plans as needed.
Requirements
- Licenses/certifications: NBRC-registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential; Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license (CA); NBRC status (Registered or Certified) required in CA, OR, and HI; CPR/BLS required; ACLS required; NRP preferred; PALS preferred; PEARS preferred; EPIC and Cerner EMR experience preferred for backfill.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Experience: At least two years of recent respiratory care experience; three years preferred.
- Additional: Ability to work in a fast-paced short-term acute care setting with adult and geriatric patients; current nursing license per the state of assignment.
