Overview

Responsibilities
- Coordinate and perform professional nursing care for patients across age groups, following orders, policies, and the nursing process.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care; administer medications and therapeutic interventions with attention to safety and effectiveness.
- Monitor patient status, respond to changes, and execute appropriate clinical decisions; escalate to the physician or supervisor as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians, unit staff, and ancillary teams; delegate tasks to CNAs/technicians and supervise as assigned.
- Provide education and discharge planning to patients and families; document care, progress, and responses accurately.
- Maintain infection control standards and ensure patient safety during periods of acuity change or emergency situations; participate in shift handoffs and patient care conferences as applicable.

Requirements
- Active Alaska RN license required at time of submission; valid, unrestricted license to practice in Alaska.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; graduation from an approved nursing program; current BLS certification; ACLS and PALS on hire.
- Experience: One year of clinical nursing experience preferred; prior med/surg experience and readiness to float to ED/ICU as needed.
- Additional: Must obtain/maintain flu vaccine; two fingerprint cards submitted upon acceptance; ability to work both day and night shifts as necessary; ability to float between Med/Surg/ED/ICU.
