Responsibilities
- Administer and monitor oncology infusions per physician orders, including chemotherapy administration
- Monitor patients during infusions, assess vitals, manage infusion reactions, and escalate as needed
- Provide patient and family education on treatment plans, potential side effects, and safety precautions
- Document care accurately in the electronic medical record; ensure proper medication administration and reconciliation
- Collaborate with the oncology care team, including physicians, pharmacists, and ancillary staff
- Maintain infection control and safety standards; participate in rounds and discharge planning as appropriate
Requirements
- Current RN license to practice
- Minimum 2 years of recent oncology/infusion experience
- AHA BLS certification required
- Chemotherapy certification preferred
- Oncology infusion experience is a must
- Must be available to work major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s) and one minor holiday as per unit policy
- Ability to work effectively in a hospital setting
