Travel Registered Nurse Oncology Job

The RN will apply nursing theory, clinical skills, and effective communication to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to adult oncology patients and families. Responsibilities include assessing patient needs, developing and adjusting a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, delivering direct nursing care, and coordinating care across the patient’s episode. The role involves telemetry monitoring and treatment support, patient and family education for self-care post-discharge, and promoting a healing environment.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adult oncology-medical-surgical patients, including those requiring telemetry monitoring.
- Assess patient and family needs, develop an individualized care plan with the care team, monitor progress, and adjust care as conditions change.
- Administer medications, monitor responses, and perform nursing interventions within scope of practice.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, potential side effects, discharge planning, and self-care after hospitalization.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other members of the health care team; document care accurately and communicate changes in patient status.
- Maintain infection prevention practices, ensure patient safety, and participate in rounds and care coordination.
Requirements
- Current New York State RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg RN experience
- Ability to work in a hospital setting on a rotating 2x12-hour schedule; travel assignment
- Willingness to cover every other weekend and holidays as required
- Telemetry experience preferred; ability to adapt to oncology-related workflows
