Responsibilities
- Provide direct, evidence-based nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in the PCU, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and evaluating responses to treatment.
- Perform comprehensive assessments, document findings, and update care plans in Epic EMR in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Administer ongoing therapy, manage IVs and lines, assist with procedures, and address clinical changes promptly to ensure patient safety and timely escalation when needed.
- Support discharge planning and patient/family education, aligning with physician orders and unit protocols.
- Manage a patient load within a 4 to 6:1 ratio, depending on patient mix; flex to float to sister campuses as required.
- Maintain regulatory and unit-specific standards, including BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS requirements as applicable to PCU patients.
Requirements
- License: Florida RN license (Compact) active on profile; recent Nursys on file
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of PCU experience; ED experience not required and not expected to float to ED
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS current or able to obtain
- Education: RN degree with degree accreditation on profile or documented equivalent (per note: 5 years of PCU experience acceptable in lieu of accreditation)
- Skills: Proficiency in Epic EMR; ability to float to sister campuses as required; strong clinical judgment and teamwork
- Additional: Willingness to work 12-hour night shifts and to adhere to unit-specific policies and timelines
