Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care for patients in a home hospice setting, aligning with physician orders and care plans.
- Monitor patient status before, during, and after procedures or operative interventions; administer medications and anesthesia-related agents per protocol; manage pain and comfort.
- Maintain sterile technique, assist with equipment setup, and support surgical or procedural activities within scope of practice.
- Document assessments, interventions, vital signs, and outcomes in the patient record; communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team.
- Educate patients and families on post-procedure care, wound care, symptom management, and safety planning as part of the hospice plan of care.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and home health staff to coordinate care and ensure safe transitions.
Requirements
- Active California RN license
- Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience; recent OR practice in specialty required
- Associate degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
- Ability to work in a home healthcare - hospice environment and travel to patient homes
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Willingness to participate in on-call requirements and occasional night coverage as noted in the shift details
