Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to neuro-focused PCU patients, including ongoing neuro assessments and monitoring.
- Administer prescribed medications, including Cardene and Cleviprex, and monitor effects.
- Read and interpret EKG rhythms; recognize and respond to arrhythmias and changes in neuro status.
- Perform patient- and family-centered care, including documentation in the electronic health record and coordination with the multidisciplinary team.
- Support unit operations with patient transfers, rounding, and responding to call lights; float to step-down and PCU sides as required.
- Maintain BLS and ACLS standards; participate in NIHSS assessments as assigned; ensure adherence to unit protocols and safety practices.
Requirements
- Active RN license in Florida
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Minimum 2 years of neuro nursing experience
- Experience with Cardene and Cleviprex preferred/required
- Ability to read and interpret EKG rhythms
- Degree accreditation on profile or 5 years of neuro nursing experience
- Must be able to work in a hospital setting and float to related units as needed
- Willingness to reside within approximately 50 miles of the assignment location
