Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Med/Surg Tele unit, including assessment, documentation, and coordination of care for adult medical-surgical patients.
- Administer prescribed medications and IV therapies, including IV antibiotics and anticoagulant infusions; assist with blood product administration as needed.
- Manage central line care and maintenance; perform IV starts and assist with tube feedings as appropriate.
- Participate in chemotherapy/biotherapy infusions when assigned and within scope of practice; chemotherapy/biotherapy certification is preferred but not required.
- Monitor telemetry and patient status, respond to changes in condition, and communicate findings to the care team; document in the Epic EMR.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams; provide patient and family education and support care transitions.
Requirements
- Active RN license (as applicable to practice setting)
- Certifications: BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS required; chemotherapy/biotherapy certification preferred
- Experience: Prior travel nursing experience is required; experience in a large teaching facility is preferred
- EMR: EPIC experience within the past 2 years is required
- Additional: Must be able to work on a Med/Surg Tele unit with telemetry; reliable transportation may be needed due to limited public transit
