Travel Registered Nurse OR Job
Travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Operating Room (OR) in Rochester, New York. Start date: 07/06/2026 for a 13-week assignment. Shift: 12-hour days (7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.). Responsibilities
- Provide intraoperative nursing care in the adult cardiac OR, supporting complex cases from scrub to circulate as appropriate.
- Independently scrub and circulate complex cases, including CABG, TAVR/TAVI, Bentall procedures, minimally invasive valve work, and heart failure cases (e.g., Impella).
- Assist with transplant and other structural heart procedures as needed; participate in multidisciplinary team planning with surgeons, perfusionists, and anesthesia.
- Prepare and manage operative equipment and instruments; maintain sterile field and aseptic technique throughout procedures.
- Monitor patient status intraoperatively, manage telemetry as indicated, anticipate and respond to intraoperative changes or emergencies.
- Document intraoperative events accurately and facilitate clear handoffs to the PACU after the procedure.
- Ensure patient safety and adherence to institutional policies, including infection control and safety protocols.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in New York (NY RN license only)
- Minimum of two (2) years of operating room experience
- OR experience in a level 1 trauma setting is highly desired
- Able to independently scrub and circulate complex adult cardiac cases
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- Telemetry competency
- Ability to work in a hospital OR environment and to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Cardiac OR experience with adult cases (CABG, TAVR, Bentall, etc.) is strongly preferred but not required
