Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Neuro-MSK Med/Surg unit in accordance with established standards and policies
- Monitor telemetry, interpret findings, and respond to alarms; administer medications and manage clinical procedures as assigned
- Assume expanded roles as needed, including charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member responsibilities
- Perform initial and ongoing NIHSS assessments; document changes and communicate with the multidisciplinary team
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff; educate patients and families on treatment plans and care goals
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record; ensure safety and quality of care, including fall and infection prevention
- Meet unit staffing needs during D/E/N shifts and during weekends/holidays/on-call as required
Requirements
- Active New York State Registered Nurse license
- BLS certification (American Heart Association)
- Telemetry experience required
- NIHSS certification or demonstrated NIHSS competency
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical experience
- Ability to work in a hospital setting and participate in a 12-hour shift schedule
- Willingness to participate in weekends, holidays, on-call, or callback responsibilities as needed
