Responsibilities
- Provide direct, patient-centered care to PCU patients as part of an interdisciplinary team
- Monitor patient status, perform head-to-toe assessments, and manage telemetry as needed
- Administer medications and IV therapies; manage lines/drains and monitor for adverse reactions
- Interpret and document clinical information in the Epic EMR; communicate changes with the care team
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to plan and execute care plans; participate in discharge planning
- Maintain patient safety and comfort, adhere to unit protocols, and respond to alarms and deteriorating patient conditions
- Float to sister campuses as required; uphold unit nurse-to-patient ratios (approximately 4:1 to 5:1)
Requirements
- Active RN license and license number must be loaded on profile; appropriate to the assignment location
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required
- Experience: 2+ years of PCU experience
- Education: Accredited degree must be on profile
- Ability to work in a fast-paced PCU environment and to float to other campuses as needed
- EMR experience with Epic is expected
