Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care for adult Med Surg stroke step-down patients, including neuro monitoring and routine assessments.
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders; perform NIHSS assessments and respond promptly to changes in patient condition.
- Document care in the electronic medical record (EPIC); coordinate with physicians, therapists, and ancillary staff; participate in shift handoffs.
- Manage medications and equipment (IV pumps, feeding tubes) and monitor renal status, dialysis considerations, and infection control precautions as needed.
- Collaborate with the care team on care planning, discharge planning, and patient/family education to support safe transitions.

Requirements
- Active New York RN license
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification
- NIHSS certification or ability to obtain prior to start (required for unit)
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience with stroke step-down background; travel experience required
- EPIC EMR experience
- Nursys license verification with active NY RN license; ability to provide license documentation
- Driver’s license with address matching demographics
- RTO (time off) requests must be included at time of submission
- Ability to work in a high-acuity Med Surg environment with adult patients
