Responsibilities
- Provide skilled RN care for adults on a high-acuity step-down unit, including ventilated patients and those requiring advanced monitoring
- Manage ventilator care and troubleshoot alarms and ventilator issues; respond promptly to respiratory changes
- Titrate vasopressors, insulin drips, and sedation drips per protocol and patient response
- Handle arterial lines, chest tubes, external pacemakers, trach care, and other invasive support devices
- Assess, monitor, and document patient status; recognize deterioration and escalate to appropriate team members; participate in RRT as needed
- Collaborate with PT, Respiratory, Social Work, Pharmacy, and other disciplines; ensure accurate charting in Epic and maintain 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratios
- Float within service line to lower-acuity floors as needed; participate in unit-wide safety and quality initiatives
- Maintain trauma Level II-ready skills and contribute to a smooth turnover between shifts

Requirements
- Licensure: MO or compact license; for Illinois, license in hand required at submittal; pending licenses accepted in some states; local radius of 75 miles not accepted
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Experience: Minimum 2 years RN experience with recent bedside practice (within last 6 months); travel experience required; first-timers not accepted
- Required clinical skills: ventilator care and troubleshooting; titration of vasopressors, insulin, and sedation drips; trach/vented care; arterial lines; chest tubes; external pacemakers
- Setting: Ability to work in a high-acuity step-down environment with potential for cross-floorFLOAT to lower-acuity areas
- Trauma: Trauma Level II experience required
