Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat adults with speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and swallowing disorders; develop goals and implement evidence-based intervention plans.
- Conduct bedside swallow evaluations and manage dysphagia therapy; design and monitor rehabilitation programs and adjust strategies as patient status evolves.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team (nursing, physicians, occupational and physical therapy) to coordinate care, participate in rounds, and support discharge planning.
- Document clinical findings, progress notes, and treatment plans in the electronic medical record; ensure compliance with regulatory and facility policies.
- Educate patients, families, and staff on communication strategies and safe feeding techniques; promote strategies to maximize functional communication and quality of life.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Current Connecticut state licensure to practice Speech-Language Pathology or eligibility for licensure
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) or eligibility
- Ability to work in a long-term care setting with adult residents
- Preferred: experience in acute care or skilled nursing environments; strong communication and teamwork skills
