Responsibilities
- Provide basic and critical respiratory care services per physician orders and department policies.
- Deliver respiratory therapy for adult and geriatric patients, including assessment, monitoring, and ongoing adjustment of therapies as indicated.
- Administer prescribed treatments (e.g., oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, airway clearance techniques, ventilator support as appropriate).
- Complete documentation in electronic medical records, maintain flow sheets, and process charges for each patient.
- Demonstrate clinical judgment and the ability to work with limited supervision; supervise others as delegated when applicable.
- Collaborate with physicians and the broader care team to optimize patient outcomes and ensure adherence to current department policies.
Requirements
- Current Respiratory Therapist license/registration and RRT credential, or eligibility, as applicable.
- Education from an accredited respiratory therapy program; prepared for NBRC RRT credentials.
- Ability to perform adult and geriatric respiratory care in an acute care/inpatient setting.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and patient documentation; accurate charting and billing.
- Availability to work nights on 12-hour shifts; reliable and adaptable to a travel assignment.
- Willingness to participate in a travel assignment and meet credentialing requirements.
