Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for adult patients on a Med/Surg Stroke Stepdown unit
- Monitor neuro status, vital signs, I&O, and administer medications; manage IVs and feeding tubes as needed
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document findings in EPIC EMR; update care plans accordingly
- Collaborate with physicians, case management, and the interdisciplinary team to implement treatment plans
- Respond quickly to changes in patient condition; initiate appropriate interventions and escalate when necessary
- Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges; educate patients and families on care plans and post-discharge needs
Requirements
- Active NY RN license with NURSYS verification
- 2+ years of Med/Surg experience with stroke stepdown
- BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certification; NIH required for this unit (can be obtained prior to start)
- EPIC EMR experience
- Travel experience required; locals within 75 miles may be considered at local rate
- RTO requests must be included at submission
