Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to adult medical-surgical patients per care plans.
- Monitor and reassess patient status; administer prescribed medications and treatments; manage IV therapies as needed.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team; document care and communications in the EMR (Sorian); participate in rounds and handoffs.
- Support discharge planning and patient education to promote safe transitions of care.
- Manage common Med Surg diagnoses (e.g., CHF, COPD, syncope, non-STEMI, DKA, wound issues) and postoperative needs; assist with routine perioperative and post-op care as applicable.
- Maintain safe patient care within the standard RN-to-patient ratios (7:1, with rare deviations up to 8:1); no on-call requirement.
- Adhere to infection control, safety policies, and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- 2+ years of medical-surgical RN experience
- Must have SCU and ED experience
- BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred
- Travel nursing experience required
- Proficient with the Sorian EMR system
- Ability to work nights and adapt to unit staffing needs
