Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care on a Med Surg Stroke Stepdown unit for adult patients, including neuro monitoring, vital signs, and timely reassessment.
- Administer medications, manage IV therapies, and perform standard nursing procedures while ensuring patient safety and infection control.
- Conduct focused neuro assessments, monitor for stroke-related changes, and escalate concerns per protocol.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case management, and family members to coordinate care, treatment plans, and discharge planning.
- Document care and outcomes accurately in the EPIC EMR; maintain compliance with unit and hospital policies.
Requirements
- Active NY RN license (NURSYS verification) and ability to practice in New York
- 2+ years of Med Surg experience with stroke stepdown
- NIHSS certification or willingness to obtain prior to start (required for this unit)
- AHA BLS certification
- EPIC EMR experience
- Locality and scheduling: within 75 miles for local rate; RTO must be included at submission
