Responsibilities
- Deliver respiratory care to patients with COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, and other cardiopulmonary conditions
- Monitor patients on ventilatory support and respond to cardiopulmonary changes per protocol and physician orders
- Evaluate patients’ physical and mental status; document findings and adjust plans of care as appropriate
- Educate patients and families; participate in group class settings when needed
- Communicate effectively with the care team; anticipate patient and staff needs; support multidisciplinary collaboration
- Maintain current knowledge of regulatory standards and patient safety goals; contribute to quality and safety initiatives
- Participate in required education for applicable programs; float to other qualified departments per unit needs and documented guidelines
Requirements
- Licenses/ Certifications: Current Oregon RT License and current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
- Certifications: PALS, NRP, BLS, ACLS required
- Education: Graduate of an accredited program in Respiratory Therapy
- Experience: None required
- Physical/Clinical demands: Ability to perform essential respiratory care duties and operate medical equipment in a fast-paced inpatient setting
- Additional notes: CRASE training is preferred; if the travel assignment extends beyond six months, CRASE training will be required
