Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate nursing care to adult patients on the Med Surg Stroke Stepdown unit, including monitoring neuro status and vital signs.
- Perform regular neuro assessments and participate in stroke protocols; document findings and responses accurately.
- Administer medications, manage IV pumps, and assist with enteral feeds and tube care as needed.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, participate in rounds, and communicate changes in patient condition promptly.
- Maintain accurate EPIC EMR documentation; support admissions, transfers, and discharges; uphold infection control and patient safety standards.
- Float to related units as required and adhere to isolation precautions and unit-specific procedures.
Requirements
- Active NY registered nurse license with NURSYS verification; all active RN licenses in good standing
- BLS certification (AHA); NIHSS certification; NIHSS required for this unit
- 2+ years of Med Surg experience with stroke stepdown exposure; travel experience required
- Proficiency in EPIC or comparable EMR system
- Driver’s license with address that matches demographics
- RTO (approved time off) must be included at time of submission
- Up-to-date resume that includes 2+ years of MS stroke stepdown experience
- Must be able to work night shifts and float to related units as needed
