Responsibilities
- Accurately charges for patients and unit supplies.
- Administers and controls narcotics and medications; administers IV fluids per policy.
- Provides care across the age spectrum: infant to geriatric, tailoring care to age-specific needs.
- Communicates effectively with the patient care team, patients, families, and physicians.
- Documents comprehensive patient assessments, plans, interventions, and responses; evaluates outcomes and updates the plan accordingly.
- Demonstrates safe techniques with equipment and can handle emergencies promptly and professionally.
- Develops individualized plans of care, setting nursing priorities and coordinating care with team members.
- Provides patient and family education and leadership by directing and delegating tasks under supervision of an RN.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and organized unit; reports concisely at shift end or during patient transfers.
- Willing to perform other duties and innovations as assigned.
Requirements
- Active California RN license.
- Evidence of safe practice and ability to work in an acute care, obstetric/women’s health setting.
- Graduate of an approved nursing program.
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and participate in a travel assignment.
- Experience in a women’s care unit or obstetric/women’s health environment is preferred.
- Demonstrates age-appropriate assessment and nursing skills for infants, children, adults, and the elderly.
- Competency in patient and family education, documentation, and care coordination under RN supervision.
