Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive assessments of speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing as referrals arise.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans aimed at improving communication and swallowing function.
- Deliver direct therapy to individuals and small groups, adapting approaches to the correctional setting and patient needs.
- Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and outcomes in the patient record; ensure accuracy and timely updates.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including nursing, medical staff, mental health, and social services to coordinate patient care.
- Adhere to facility policies on privacy, safety, infection control, and security; participate in care planning meetings as needed.
- Assist with discharge planning and referrals to appropriate services when clinically indicated.
Requirements
- Active Speech-Language Pathologist license (state-specific licensure requirements apply)
- Relevant experience in acute care or correctional settings is preferred
- Ability to work effectively within a correctional facility environment and follow established policies
- Strong communication and documentation skills; proficient with electronic medical records
- Ability to meet the guaranteed hours and shift requirements
- U.S. work authorization
