Responsibilities
- Assess patients, interpret evaluations and test results, and help determine occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
- Implement therapy programs to improve or restore physical or mental functioning, including activities of daily living, sensorimotor tasks, and functional skills; supervise aides and technicians as needed.
- Promote patient independence by tailoring therapies to each individual’s capacity, cognition, and interests; coordinate with employers when preparing for return-to-work when applicable.
- Monitor patient progress, document care, adjust plans as appropriate, and participate in discharge planning with the care team; educate patients and families on home exercise programs and necessary equipment.
- Ensure safety, infection control, and confidentiality; maintain equipment and environmental standards; contribute to continuous quality improvement and professional development.
Requirements
- Colorado Occupational Therapy License (issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies)
- National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support)/CPR certification required
- Previous experience in OT, preferably in acute-care or inpatient settings
- Ability to work in a fast-paced inpatient environment and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Degree in Occupational Therapy (OT) from an accredited program and current licensure/registration as applicable
