Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse, Med Surg (travel) – Utica, NY. Start date 07/20/2026 for 13 weeks. Weekly pay range: $2,117–$2,196 per week. Guaranteed hours: 36 per week. Shift: Night shift, 6:30 p.m.–7:00 a.m., 12-hour shifts; 2x3 pattern. Setting: MS Stroke Stepdown unit in a hospital, with 64 beds and floating required.

Responsibilities
- Provide direct, adult patient care on a Med Surg Stroke Stepdown unit, including continuous neuro assessments, vital signs monitoring, and escalation of any neurologic changes.
- Administer prescribed medications and therapies; manage IV pumps, NG tubes, and feeding tubes; monitor for adverse reactions and document responses.
- Document in EPIC EMR with accurate, timely notes; communicate patient status changes to the care team; participate in interdisciplinary rounds and care planning.
- Implement stroke-focused protocols and safety measures; perform NIHSS assessments as required and apply appropriate isolation precautions when indicated.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, social work, and case management to coordinate care and plan safe and timely discharges; educate patients and families about care plans, medications, and follow-up.
- Willingness to float to related units as needed to support patient care and unit staffing.
Requirements
- Active New York RN license; Nursys verification with an active NY license and all active RN licenses
- Minimum 2 years MS experience with stroke stepdown care
- Travel experience required; local candidates considered at local rate (within 75 miles)
- Current AHA BLS certification; NIHSS competency required for this unit (can be obtained prior to start)
- EPIC EMR experience
- RTO (time off) must be included at time of submission
- Driver’s license with address that matches demographics
