Responsibilities
- Perform mammography examinations and related imaging studies for patients across the lifespan, ensuring protocol accuracy and patient safety.
- Corroborate patient clinical history with procedures and coordinate appropriate follow-up.
- Assess patient condition, determine pregnancy risk when applicable, and maintain safety using restraints or support devices as needed.
- Prepare patients for procedures, provide pre- and post-procedure instructions, communicate with radiologists, and obtain informed consent when required.
- Demonstrate competency with required imaging equipment, including startup/shutdown, quality control, selecting appropriate protocols, positioning, and image quality evaluation.
- Transfer imaging to PACS and other workstations, maintain archival storage, and participate in QA/QC activities as required.
Requirements
- Current ARRT registration (R)(M) or equivalent required.
- Current BLS certification.
- Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist program with dedicated mammography training preferred.
- Initial training in digital mammography and tomosynthesis required.
- Meets MQSA requirements; 15 breast CEU within 36 months and 200 mammography exams in 24 months preferred.
- Two years post-graduation experience preferred.
- Ability to perform mammography studies including routine screening and specialized diagnostic views.
- Travel eligibility to Bethel, Alaska; willingness to work in a hospital imaging department.
- Proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination required.
